WAAF Women’s Auxiliary Air Force Auxiliary Section Officers Uniform
This Uniform set would have been worn by a WAAF (A) Auxillary Section Officer ,
The Women’s Auxiliary Air Force was Officially formed in June 1939 and a WAAF Section Officer would have served through out WW2 in many roles from the Control Tower, Stores, Admin to Anti-Aircraft Positions. The WAAF Officers wore a similar 4 pocket tunic to Other ranks but with rank on cuff lace and instead of of RAF ranks they had different names like Section Officer instead of Flying Officer.
The rank of Section Officer is a Junior rank but you can add more cuff lace to increase your rank if required, The officer is also wearing a brass A on each collar and these would have these were worn by pre-war Auxiliary similar to part time/ reserve troops usually from indicate that they had not been conscripted into the RAF but Volunteered and much pride was taken in this.
