This is the cloth shoulder patch worn by the US Special Forces on the combat uniform. The design famous sword with 3 lightening strikes with a separate Airborne tab above it.
This is the same patch that was worn in Vietnam and all the way through to when they where issued the Hook and loop backed badges for the ACU uniform.
The subdued patch which is black on green is worn on the combat jackets like the Vietnam 3rd pattern jungle shirt, woodland BDU shirt and the M65 jacket.
