US 502nd PIR DI Badge. 2nd design
US 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment metal DI badge with the word "Strike" below it.
1943 Sgt Russell May designed this crest for the 502nd PIR, it depicts an eagle claw with the word STRIKE below it. This badge was suppose to replace the earlier bat design badge. It was approved by the Heraldry office and became the official DI crest badge of the 502nd, although only a small amount of the badges were made in 1945 so they where not worn often in WW2.
The 502nd PIR was part of the 101st Airborne Division.
The DI badge was worn on the Garrison caps and on the A class uniforms.
This DI badge has a pin back fastener.
Price is for one badge.
