US Army Insecticide Powder For POW's
Genuine POW (Prisoner of War) WW2 Insecticide powder.
These were made for the American Red Cross and sent to Switzerland in World War two to be given to US POW's held by the Germans.
Genuine WW2 Insecticide powder these are standard US Issue cans of insecticide powder for body crawling insects.
The interesting thing about these is who was going to use them.
The outer box is stamped with the following
"From - American Red Cross U.S.A.
To - International Red Cross Committee Geneva, Switzerland
For - Prisoners of war
Insecticide powder case No 1999"
The unopened box was found in mainland Europe, so it was shipped to Europe during the war with the red cross to be passed onto the Germans so it could be given to US and Allied prisoners of war. These can would have been used by POW's to help with lice.
An amazing piece of history that you just do not see everyday.
We have the outer box which is stamped as above and inside there are 4 inner cartons each containing 48 cans of Insecticide powder. We are selling the cans separately.
Please note the cans are standard insecticide powder cans there are no POW markings on the cans, only on the outer box that they came in.
We have pictured the outer box for reference, the box is not included in the price, the price is only for 1 can of insecticide powder.
