This is the standard infantry field jacket issued in WW2 to the American army and the USMC. It was issued to the infantry, armoured troops, Rangers and glider troops. It was a very popular jacket as it is a great design. This is the jacket worn on the D-Day Normandy landings by the Infantry. The M41 jacket is the jacket worn by Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) in the film Saving Private Ryan.
This M41 is made by Kay Canvas and is one of the best replicas on the market, it has all the original features including a lightweight wool liner and the outer cotton is a nice light OD colour which looks brown/khaki in colour.

Officially called "Jacket, Field, OD", it was introduced in May 1941 and was worn throughout World War Two. The M41 jacket was designed before the war and was to replace the 4 pocket wool service tunic for field use.
After field test's before the war by General Parsons this was the design that was decided best suited combat field use by the US Army.
The M1941 jacket was issued to all US troops as the standard field jacket for combat use including: Infantry, M.P.'s, Signal's, Glider Troops, Air Force, Airborne Troops (often worn off duty with the large P.I.R. unit patch sewn on the breast), US Army in the Pacific and they where even worn by the USMC.

This is the second pattern M41 jacket (the first pattern was introduced in October 1940, and saw little use differed only by having flaps on the pockets which button down to close them and it had no shoulder epaulets).
Kay Canvas M41 field jacket features:
- Chrome "Talon" zip.
- Zip is covered by a flap which is secured by 5 buttons.
- Two front slash pockets.
- Waist adjustable tabs on both sides.
- Collar can be worn open or fastened close with the button and tab neck closure.
- Button down shoulder epaulets.
- Adjustable cuffs on the sleeves.
- Realistic looking label on the inside of the left hand pocket.
- Outer is 100% cotton poplin.
- Lightweight wool liner.
- Liner is light brown in colour.
Sizing. The Kay Canvas M41 is a loose fitting combat jacket. If you want a loose fit order your normal size if you want a more fitted look order one size smaller.
