The cotton webbing is made from the correct 11 weave and is the correct shade of OD#3 (khaki).
Early war time,1st model pattern canvas chinstrap for the US WW2 M1 steel helmet. This was also used on the M1917A1 (sometimes called the 1942 model helmet) WW1 type helmet.
This is the 1st model pattern canvas chinstrap which needs to be stitched directly onto the helmet bales (metal loops) on the steel sheel.
The cotton chinstrap is in the correct OD#3 (khaki/tan) colour.
This chinstrap differs from the later 2nd model khaki chinstrap only by the metal buckle, this one has a raised bar across it.
This is the correct chinstrap to go onto the M1 helmet with the fixed bales.
