US WW2 M1C Paratrooper helmet chinstrap with early buckle
American WW2 M1 helmet chinstrap for the paratrooper helmet.
The cotton webbing is made from the correct 11 weave and is the correct shade of OD#3 (khaki).
This is the canvas chinstrap which needs to be stitched directly onto the helmet bales (metal loops) on the steel shell.
This chinstrap has the first pattern buckle which has a raised bar across the female side of the buckle, this is suitable to fix onto a M1 helmet with either a fixed bale or swivel bale (the bale is the part of the helmet where the chinstrap is sewn onto) and not the early fixed D shaped bales.
The paratrooper chinstraps differed from the Infantry version by having a male press stud at each end of the canvas chinstrap which would match the female press stud on the paratrooper liner. This was so the steel shell and the liner could be clipped and fixed together.
With this chinstrap you can replace the standard infantry chinstrap on your M1 helmet with one of these for a better para helmet look.
We also have the metal female studs, which fit into the helmet liner, so you can clip the ends of the chinstrap into the helmet for sale see below
