In the early years of WW2 the American army did not have a field boot for women, so they had to wear the men's boots which generally where too large in fit so where not as comfortably as they could have been. Officially called a shoe in WW2 but these are usually called the boot nowadays.

In 1942 the US Army developed a boot specifically for women, the US Army women's field shoe was similar to the men's leather service boot and was designed to fit women's feet so they where slimmer. In 1943 they made a few improvements. 

The WW2 US Women's service shoe (boot) by Kay Canvas is a replica of the 1943 model and features:

• No toe cap.
• Leather mid sole with a composite rubber sole and heel.
• One inch high flat heel.
• Ankle high boots.
• 8 eyelets high.

These are a high quality boot and have a better finish than the other Women's field shoes that we also sell. 

Fit wise these are a good fit, if you are in between sizes then order the larger size or if you are planning on wearing thick winter socks then you may need to go up a size.
