8th Air Force badge set for the WW2 Enlisted Mans service dress uniform.

This is the badges for an Enlisted Man serving in the 8th Air Force in England during WW2 for his dress uniform. These are suitable for the four pocket Service coat and the later Ike jacket.

This WW2 badge set is for an Air Gunner who would have been part of the crew of a B17 Flying fortress or a B24 Liberator. The Bloody Hundreth as the 100th Bomb Goup was called was part of the 8th US Air Force and was the most famous of all the Bomber groups. It was also featured the Masters of the Air TV series.

This enlisted man badge set has the rank of sergeant, this is the earlier coloured stripes as the 8th arrived in England in May 1943, with the Gunner wings. Each plane would have several Gunners to defend the bomber depending on the model of plane. The gunners manned the various machine guns including the top turret, tail turret ball turret and waist guns.
