USAAF A3 Mechanics Cap in Vietnam Tiger Stripe Camouflage
USAAF A3 cap made in Tiger stripe camouflage.
We have taken the classic air force A3 mechanic's cap and made with Vietnam tadpole tiger stripe camouflage. During the Vietnam war there was a lot of custom made flight suits and gear, so we have made some of these A3 caps in tiger stripe. I have not seen any evidence of original examples of this caps made in tiger stripe, but with that much custom made gear being made it does not mean no one had one made at the local tailors and they do look great.
The A3 cap has the shape of a baseball cap with a large peak to keep the sun out of the eyes making it comfortable and practical.
The peak on the cap was often shaped so it rolled up which gives it an even more distinctive look. The cap is made from 6 panels and it has 6 white canvas strengthening strips along the seams.
