USAAF Navigator case type A4. WW2 leather briefcase
American WW2 USAAF Navigator Type A4 leather briefcase.
Officially called "Case, Navigation, Dead Reckoning, Type A-4".
Leather brief case issued to US bomber crews in world war two. This vintage looking leather briefcase was used by navigators to store all there maps, paperwork, pencils and navigation equipment needed to guide the bomber planes to their target and back home safely again.
This brief case can be seen in many war time pictures at briefings and being carried across air fields by bomber crew to the planes.
Features:
- Quality thick leather with a ripple finish (textured feel not smooth finish)
- Four compartments (3 dividers) on the inside.
- Handle on the top.
- The catch on the flap can be locked, one key included.
- Two leather straps go around the whole bag to tighten or expand the bag depending on how much paperwork is being carried.
- The bag expands out to allow more paperwork and maps to be carried. The bottom will expand to about 130mm the top about 100mm in depth.
The Air Force A4 case does not include the "Insert, Navigation, Case, Type A4" but we do sell it separately.
The front of the case is stamped with the following "CASE, NAVIGATION, DEAD, RECKONING, TYPE A-4 SPECIFICATION No. 94 KAY CANVAS"
