Original WW2 grouping set of Staff Sergeant Sherwood Weichert who was a B-24 gunner in the 776th Bomb Sqn. 15th Air Force.

Sergeant Weichert was from Milwaukee and he flew 27 missions as a Ball gunner in a B-24 heavy bomber and this group includes his metal gunners wings (clutch back sterling marked), cloth gunners wings, medal ribbon bar set which is the European African middle eastern theater with 5 stars, Army good conduct and air medal with 2 bronze oak leaf clusters. full size Air medal in box,  USAAF shoulder patch, 15th USAAF shoulder patch, S/Sgt Weichert's soldiers individual pay record, his honorable discharge certificate which gives service record details, several pictures of aircraft dropping bombs and a close up of the nose art of a plane called "Sassy Lassie".

Various paperwork includes a notice from Harold Alexander Field Marshal Supreme Allied Commander Mediterrean Theatre which was given to all soldiers serving in the Mediterrean. The notice is dated 2 May 1945 and is a "Special, Order of the Day" announcing victory in the Mediterrean. These special orders are not that easy to come across nowdays.

Also includes Indivdual Flight records and a sortie list of all his 27 missions which include his first mission on the 1/4/45 - Bolzano, Italy - Motor Yards 7.20 and his last mission on the 4/20/45 - Rovigo, Italy - Road Bridge 7.00/185:25ft. Other missions include 1/4/45 -  Moosbierbaum, Germany - Metal Works - 6.20/13.40ft. 2/7/45 - Florisdorf, Austria-oil refinery-7.10/28.10ft. 2/24/45 - Udine, Italy - Rail Yards-6.40/62.10ft. 3/25/45 - Prague, Czechoslovakia - Airdrome 8.50/121.20ft. 4/10/45 - Lugo Italy - Troop concentrations-5.20/145.45ft.
