This is the type of base ball cap worn by the USN crew of the USS Midway aircraft carrier.
The Midway aircraft carrier was built in WW2 and was commissioned a week after the end of WW2.
Up to 1955 it was the largest ship in the world!
It saw service for 47 years and saw active service in the Vietnam war and was the flag ship in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm (the first gulf war). It was decommissioned in 1992 as is now a museum in San Diego.
The cap has a sewn on badge on the front with the out line of the USS Midway with the words "USS Midway CV-41" on it.
