This fits onto the M1 steel helmets to keep the helmet cover nice and tight on the helmet and to be able to add extra camouflage quickly.
The GI's often used the scrim band to carry items of kit like bug juice and cigarettes.
Unlike modern scrim bands this replica band does not have the cats eyes sewn on to it. It is elasticated for ease.
