American WW2 WAC brown Leather purse handbag.
This was issued to the US Women's Army Corps (W.A.C.) in World War Two.
The WAC handbag has one main compartment which has a flap closure which is fastened by a press stud. The black liner is made from a cotton/nylon mix material and there is a divider which splits the main compartment up. Stitched into the divider are several pockets/slots to help organise the contents.
The WAC handbag is smaller than the rectangle shaped Nurse's handbag.
The W.A.C. leather handbag includes the removable shoulder strap.

On the back there is a strip of leather 3.5cm wide which has 3 loops sewn into it. The two small loops allow the shoulder strap to be fixed onto the bag while the large loop is for you fingers so it can be a clutch bag when the strap is not used.
