Special Air Service wings were worn above the left pocket on Battle dress and KD uniforms by parachute qualified SAS soldiers.
The distinctive dark blue and light blue SAS Parachute wings were designed by Jock Lewes, who had rowed for Oxford and another original member Lt Langton had rowed for Cambridge so he incorporated both into the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic for the solar deity
