WW2 cotton bandolier for the American M1 Garand .30 cal rifle.
The cotton bandolier is a lightweight 6 pocket bandolier with an attached shoulder strap. Each pocket is designed to hold either M1 Garand 8 round clips or rounds on stripper clips (for the likes of the Springfield rifle) or it can hold 15 rd magazines for the M1 Carbine.
M1 Garand bandolier will hold 6 x 8rd clips of ammo and where used by all US soldiers in WW2 that used the M1 Garand including Infantry, Paratroopers, Rangers and Armoured troops. Two bandoliers where often seen slung over the shoulders.
The bandolier is stamped "Cal .30 Ball M2 8rd Clips LC 39375"

The cotton bandolier was issued full of ammo and was a quick way to get resupply ammo to the front line troops. The Garand cotton ammo bandolier's where initially designed to be thrown away after the ammunition had been loaded into the webbing pouches but they proved a very popular way of carrying extra ammunition by wearing them across the body.
