The German army never issued a groundsheet for the zeltbahn it was just up to the soldiers normally to improvise with any spare zeltbahns they had or old canvas from trucks they might be able to liberate.
The zeltbahn ground sheet is made from the same tough fabric that is used on the German officer tents, the ground size of a zeltbahn tent is quiet large at nearly 7 1/2 ft/ 2.25 meters square. beside being made of tough green canvas the edges are all folded and stiched, then there is a series of brass eyelets to peg out the ground sheet to the ground or can be used a tarp to cover your field kit or motorbike etc.
